30 Day Book Challenge: Day 1-Your favorite book.
My favorite book is Scars by Cheryl Rainfield. This book really changed my life. I just got out of a mental hospital back in 2012 and I was still depressed as can be and I loved reading so much because I was able to escape the world I was living in and fall into a completely different one. When I saw this book, Scars, on the shelf at Barnes and Noble my heart stopped. I thought, “Damn. If you’re willing to show this much honesty on the cover, I need to know what you will show on the inside.” I immediately fell in love because I understood and I’ve never read a book like this before. I’ve never read books about self-harm or depression because, well, I didn’t know they were out there or that there were people brave enough to talk about it. And it means so much to me. And there needs to be more authors talking about real issues.
This book really helped me. I cried so hard reading it because I identified so much with the main character and how she felt. Scars changed me. It’s a book that I needed and I could not put it down. I’ve read it numerous times since and I will continue to enjoy it some more. Pick it up!
